  • Lest We Forget

Remembering those that gave their lives.

We celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE day in school to remember how World War II came to an end with Victory in Europe. We held a 2-minute silence as a moment of reflection and everyone wore red, white and blue! One of our children in Year 5 wrote a beautiful poem to commemorate the day:

They fought with so much pride,

    They stood by Britain's side,

    What a sacrifice they made,

    They came to our aid.

    They sacrificed their lives,

    They're renowned in the archives,

    They were extremely brave,

The action they used to crave,

    V.E Day,

    The bodies of heroes lay,

    Today, we celebrate and rejoice,

Those soldiers really had an unwavering voice.
