RE: COVID 19 – Your help needed
We are starting to see an increase in the number of COVID cases in the community and we would just like to remind parents of the importance of regular testing. I know keeping up with the latest guidance can be tricky, but we need to work together, as a community, to try and stop the spread of the virus.
Many children are often asymptomatic against the virus. This means they often don’t show any symptoms of COVID-19 at all or symptoms are very mild. Regular lateral flow testing is really important for families to try and catch children who may not have symptoms but may be carrying the virus. Our staff are testing twice a week to help protect everyone in school as part of the government testing programme and we would encourage families to do the same. I understand lateral flow tests are hard to come by at times, but I do ask that as a community we do try and look after each other.
However, if a child or adult has any of the three main symptoms, a fever, a cough or a change to taste/smell then you must still get a PCR test. The rule changes about lateral flow testing only apply if someone is asymptomatic, no symptoms. Anybody with symptoms must still get a PCR and isolate until the result comes through. If you are in any doubt ring 119 for advice.
We have to work together to protect each other, the last thing anybody wants is to revert back to bubbles or worst case having to have class closures again. Please, please, if your child has any symptoms at all, isolate and get them tested.
