You will be notified of your child's secondary school place on 1st March 2020. Initially accept this place, even if you don't want your child to attend the school that you have been given. There is an appeals process that you have to go through after accepting this place, but you could end up at a school a greater distance from your home than the one that you don't want your child to attend.
